Robert “Bob” A. Pierson

Robert Arthur Pierson

January 19, 1939 – October 5, 2020

Robert Arthur Pierson was born 19 January 1939 in Omaha, NE. He was the youngest of the three children of Arthur and Laura Pierson. He graduated from South High School in 1956. He joined the United States Air Force on 1 March 1957, being one of the first to enlist at Offutt AFB. His first duty station was a microwave radio site in Elkhorn, NE. While in the USAF, Robert worked in radio communications which took him around the world, including tours in Vietnam during the war.

Robert married Hiroko Koga on 29 June 1969 while stationed in Itezuke, Japan. They raised their family in various countries and states until Robert’s retirement from the USAF on 1 April 1987. The family returned home to Omaha, where Robert attended ITT technical college. After graduation, Robert was integral to the startup of Union Pacific’s Harriman Dispatch Center. Robert’s final retirement, from Union Pacific, was in 2004.

Robert and Hiroko enjoyed their retirement years traveling around the US and to Japan.

Robert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hiroko, daughter Cristina Grazziano and her husband, Tony Grazziano of Omaha, NE and daughter Donna Clifford and her husband, Lt Col Jason Clifford (USAF) of Northfield, VT. He was a proud grandfather of Grace and Cody Grazziano. He is also survived by his siblings Darlene Gibbons of Omaha, NE and Marilyn Pierson of St. Catherine, KY. He is also survived by his children from a previous marriage, Cathy Burkett and Lawrence Pierson and many nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered for his dedication to his country, love of his family and ice cream.

Mary Ann McKinley

Mary Ann McKinley was born on May 25, 1965.  She is the daughter of JC Thomas and Mary A Woodley.  Mary enjoyed spending time with her kids, family and friends.  She accepted Christ at an early age.  Mary went to cosmetology school and received her certificate.  She was the apple of everyone’s eye.  She leaves to cherish her memory: Children:  Tyrone D. McKinley, Marcus (Breonna) McKinley, Trasiona (Levi) Evans and Sade (Salim) Drummond, Long time partner:  Alvin Moss, Mother-in-law: Sherry Moss, Step-Daughter:  Lexii Moss, Step-Son:  Alex Moss, Siblings:  Alfred (Sherry) McKinley, James C. Omaha Gospel Pioneer Rosie is preceded in death by husband; Charles Henry Gray,  son; Alan Kelly Gray, grandson; Charles Jason Gray (CJ),  and parents; Gosbey & Izelria Harris.  Rosie is survived by two sons: Albert (Sally) Briggs and Charles (Leanna) Gray; three daughters, Alice Briggs, Tina Gray, and Diedre Gray. Twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; five sisters, three brothers, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives.

Mildred Lee

Mildred Lee was born on May 16, 1932 to the union of Adell and Square Clark, who preceded her in death.

She professed her love for Jesus Christ at an early age, she was   a member at  Lampkin Baptist Church in Pine Bluff Arkansas.

She graduated from Merrill High School in Pine Bluff Arkansas in 1951.

On April 22, 1954 the then Ms. Mildred Clark was married to Oudious Lee in Pine Bluff Arkansas. Shortly after their union they moved to Omaha, Ne where they where blessed with 4 beautiful children. Oudious Jr, Deborah, Carolyn, and Sharon Lee.

Mildred exhibited a strong work ethic and strong family values. In July of 1970 she graduated and was awarded completion of New Careers Training Programs  in the field of Human Services offered by the Concentrated Employment Program and the College of Arts and Sciences of Creighton University. She was immediately employed by the Nebraska Job Service. She fulfilled a full career at the Nebraska Job Service retiring after 21 years of employment.

In August 1971 her husband tragically passed away after suffering a severe heart attack. Mildred showed strength, resilience, and unmatched self discipline to raise her four children alone often working multiple jobs in order to provide for them. Ultimately working enough to send her two eldest children to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She would put her eldest daughter through Law School and her daughter would graduate 1982. In 1975 during the integration of the Omaha Public School district she became an advocate for the community, demanding that the school district provide buses for all of the children. She was able to organize the community parents and threaten a boycott. This pressure would eventually make the school district succumb to her demands.

Her advocacy with her community would continue in the late 80s and early 90s. She started multiple community outreach programs including the Fairfax Community Garden, Weed and Seed, and she would become the head of her neighbor watch. It is because of Mildred’s efforts with the local and state government that smoking inside any public building is illegal, Mildred was the 1st woman to win the Spirit of Woman Award, she also won

North Omaha Young  Life Award  in 2002 among many other awards.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her four children Oudious, Deborah (Mitchell Pinkard), Carolyn, and Sharon Lee. She was preceded in death by J.C. Givens, Robert Clark, Fanny Mae Clark, Jessie Mae Traylor,  Alonzo Clark; she is survived by Janis Cox. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Crystal, Cami, Clifton Jr, Corey, LaVel, Diamond, Aaliyah, Malcolm, and Alexandria, 18 great grand children, and 2 great great grand children. And a host of other relatives.

Michele “Cheryl” Person

Michele Person was born on October 1, 1961 in Chicago Illinois. She was the baby of five born to James and Katherine Person. Michele attended Our Lady of the Gardens catholic school while in grade school and George Washington Carver High School graduating with her diploma in 1980. She went to college attempting to earn a degree in child development. She worked at a host of daycare centers as a toddler teacher. In 2003, Michele decided it was time for a change. She moved to Omaha Nebraska along with her husband, Isaac Suggs, and 7 of her 8 children. While in Omaha, Michele opened a home daycare center caring for the children around the neighborhood.

Michele was loved by everyone. Anyone that ever met her liked her, and if not, they wanted to be liked by her. She was the life of the party. She was very outspoken, a strong fighter, an amazing cook, an incredible dancer, a great caretaker for others, and much more. She could put a smile on the face of others with her great personality. She loved listening to all genres of music from slow cuts to fast tempo tunes. Which is why people loved coming to visit her daily. Over the years, she developed friendships around the world, but nothing compared to the love she received in Chicago and Omaha.

On September 30, 2020, Michele departed this life in Omaha Nebraska. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Isaac Suggs, a sister Betty Hardin, a brother Nathan Person, her children Kenyata Alexander(Carmone), William Person(Deanna), Kiel Person(Rebecca), Amin Person(Johnese), Alindra Person(Terence) Nautica Suggs, Isaac Suggs Jr., Nyeilah Suggs, 20 grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, God children, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Katherine Person, her brother Eric Person, her sister Rosie Foster, and three grandchildren Kavion Person, Amin Person Jr., and Zy’Aire Person.

Tristan Jibreel Harper

Tristan Jibreel Harper was born on August 8th, 2014 in Omaha NE, to Erica Johnson and Tarvoris Harper and he left this life on October 1st, 2020. Tristan was a special little baby who shined the room every time he entered; you couldn’t help but to spoil him. Tristan attended Central Park Elementary School where his teachers adored him and friends alike. Tristan loved to color at the age of 2, he colored in the lines perfectly. His first words besides “Mom” and “Dad” was (“Dookie”). He was an amazing kid, his favorite toys we’re Legos and Dinosaurs. He loved dressing up in costumes (Preferably Venom) and wearing them everywhere we went. He loved playing and rough housing with his brothers, nephews, siblings, and a host of cousins. He had so much character funny, smart, handsome, and not afraid to speak his mind. He is loved and will be missed by many. We are so proud to be blessed with a son like you for 6 amazing years of soul, laughter, and love.

Tristan is proceeded in death by Great Grandfather, Hezekiah Johnson; Grandmother(s) Dorothy Johnson, and Maria Harper; Great Aunt, Sandra Johnson; Great Uncle, Anthony Jones; Uncle Tristan Harper and Cousin Derek Johnson. He leaves behind his loving parents, Erica Johnson and Tarvoris Harper; two brothers Matthias Voss and Emmanuel Sanders Jr.; three sisters: Marqwesha Mapp, Tarvoreiona Mapp, & Ta’NiQue Harper; and 3 nephews: JaQuan Washington Jr, A’Mor Hall, & Kha’Mauri Jimerson, all of Omaha, NE; special friend Arivia Robinson; and a host of aunts, uncles, family and friends.

LuShana Q. Griffin-Tucker

LuShana Q. Tucker Age 44,

died peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 28, 2020 in Omaha, Ne.

LuShana was born on July 15, 1976 in Omaha, Nebraska to Terri Griffin and Melvin Nunn. She graduated from Flanagan High School. After graduating LuShana moved to Minneapolis, MN where she enjoyed a thriving career with AT&T Communication.

LuShana moved back to Omaha, NE in 2008 where she worked for Marriott Reservations as a Reservation Specialist. Besides spending time with her children and family LuShana had a passion for cooking, political debates and solving the world’s problems.

LuShana had a bright and enthusiastic personality and was known for her ability to find the solution to any problem, she touched many lives with her laughter and passion for life.

LuShana is survived by her husband, Taiwan Tucker, 3 children: Diamond, Diago and Ericka, 1 grandson: Dimone, sister: Aisha Conner (Carleton), grandmother: Charlie Mae House and a host of family and friends.

She finished her illustrious career working for the Nebraska Department of Labor.

Family and Friends are invited to attend her Wake on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Roeder Mortuary, 4932 Ames Ave.  A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, October 9, 2020 at 1:00 pm located at Launch Church (formerly Jehovah Shammah Church Int’l) located at 3020 Huntington Ave.
