Omaha – Phyllis Adamson Lowder, 99, entered her eternal home with Jesus on June 13, 2022. Phyllis was born September 24, 1922 in Thurman, Iowa to Walter and Velma Adamson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Leonard Lowder. She is survived by her children: Terry (Bethanne) Lowder, Sandy (Roger) Howard, and April (Jim) Veline; grandchildren: Jennifer (Andy) VanBuskirk, Kristen (Jack) Yerton, Christopher (Kelly) Lowder, and Jonathan (Chrissy) Howard; eight great-grandchildren. Phyllis met her husband Leonard when they both worked on the school newspaper at Omaha North High. While Leonard served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, Phyllis taught school. They were married June 1, 1944. Phyllis and Leonard raised their three children in Omaha. While a homemaker, Phyllis was an active volunteer and leader in PTA, ASME, Girl Scouts, Eastern Star, Church Circle, and Sunday School. When her children were older, Phyllis completed her BA in Education and returned to teaching First Grade at Field Club School and later, Second Grade at Franklin Magnet School. When she retired from teaching, she continued to work with children at her church. Phyllis was a child magnet. Whenever she stepped out of the house, children would approach her to talk. She loved storytelling, incorporating puppets and role play to make stories come alive. She created original stories to help children expand their imaginations and navigate the world. Everyone called her “Grandma Phyllis.” Phyllis was known for her infectious laugh and twinkling smile. She was an empathetic friend who prioritized bringing joy to others. Her family was blessed by her constant love and encouragement.

Evelyn M. Martin

2/11/1925 – 6/11/2022

Springfield –  Evelyn was born February 11, 1925 to Alfred and Sophie Heisner in Omaha, Ne.
She was the third born of six siblings. Her nickname growing up was PeeWee because she was smaller in size. She quickly rid of this nickname by proving her size with her big personality.
In 1942, Evelyn welcomed a son, Louis, into the world. In 1950, she married the love of her life, Kenny Martin. They were married 65 years until Kenny’s passing in 2016. Kenny and Evelyn farmed in the Springfield area for many years. Evelyn helped on the farm for most of her life. Her other jobs included cleaning chickens for area folks, selling black walnuts and painting houses.
Evelyn was a true kid at heart. She enjoyed all children and was the first to get down on the floor to play even into her later years. She was never one to turn the TV on for kids, instead she’d play games like hide the button, pin the tail, clothespin drop or just go outside to explore. Her philosophy through her entire life was to stay busy and active. She lived 35,539 days on this Earth and she’d often say “I made it another day, let’s go do something.” She was a lifelong learner up to her last day.
Preceded in death by husband Kenny Martin, son Louis Gibson, sisters Edith, Dorothy, brothers Rich, Abe, Bob, daughter in law Laureen. She shared this youthfulness with her 3 grandchildren-Kevin (Tammy) Gibson, Amy (Darrell) Eloge, and Lisa (Tony) Matthes. Evelyn had 6 great grandchildren-Tyler, Nicole, Trevor, Layney, Aryan and Lausyn; and one great, great granddaughter, Cora.
Some of Evelyn’s favorite activities were gardening, sewing, canning, baking cookies, picking flowers, and spending time with friends and family. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays. She was the hostess with the mostest.

Proving that God’s timing is always perfect, Evelyn was baptized shortly after her 97th birthday. Her relationship with God continued to grow and will now continue forever in Heaven. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
