Bud G. Phillips

7/27/1940 – 5/13/2022

Bud Passed away peacefully on May 13, 2022.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Bertha (Bert) Phillips. He is survived by his daughters, Michele (Brian) Houck, Christine (Trig) Romsa; two grandsons, Joseph Romsa, Jacob Romsa and a host of other loving family and friends.

Bud was born in Richmond, IN. He was in the Air Force for 26 years and was stationed in Plattsburg, NY where he met Bert. They came to Nebraska where he was stationed at SAC for about 14 years.  Retired and moved to Minnesota.

They lived the rest of their years there. Bud returned to Nebraska to be with family the last year of his life.

Services will be held June 17, 2022, 1 PM at Omaha National Cemetery.

Lorin R. Mills

1932 – 2022

Lorin Mills passed away on May 20, 2022 at the age of 89.

Lorin was born Dec. 9, 1932 in Harrison County, IA to the late Lorin Fay Mills and Lucille Sewing Mills on the family farm.

Lorin is survived by his wife of 65 years Mary (Blazek) Mills; daughters Laura Seaver (Tim) and Carol Adam (Larry); sons David Mills (Pennie) and Dr. Mark Mills (Louise); brother Dwight Mills (Marian); four grandchildren; Joseph Adam (Ellen), Jacob Mills (Katie), John Adam (Katie), Maria Mills. Great-granddaughter Lily Mills.  And loving nieces and nephews.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army 1953-1955 and as Cpl. in the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal (stationed in Germany).  He married Mary Blazek March 2, 1957 in Omaha.  He was employed at Fruehauf (LBT, Inc.) as a welder for 41 years and retired in 1996.

Lorin always enjoyed singing and was a member of the choir at Pearl Memorial United Methodist Church in Omaha for many years.  He enjoyed going fishing with family and friends. He seemed to always have his camera with him to take memorable photographs of family or the beautiful scenery of the many camping trips he took his family on. He loved playing horseshoes and won the Nebraska State Championship five times and the Cornhusker State Games several times.  In 2000 he was inducted into the National Horseshoe Pitchers Assoc. Hall of Fame.

Visitation will be Fri., May 27 6-8pm at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N. 108th St. Omaha.  Funeral service will be Sat., May 28 9:00am at Olive Crest United Methodist Church 7180 N. 60th St. Omaha.  Burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Woodbine, IA with Military Honors.

Rozella “Rose” M. Sesemann

Rozella (Rose) Havenridge Sesemann was born January 3, 1936 in Omaha, NE. She graduated from North High School. In 1958 she married Charles Sesemann. After working several years at Mutual of Omaha, she and Charley opened Charley’s Speed and Machine in 1967. Acknowledging a long and successful business, they were inducted into the Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame.

Rose was well versed in auto parts as well as her sewing and needlework. Her handwork is painstakingly perfect. Rose had a smile for everyone, and made friends everywhere she went.  She cherished her family and friends and would share stories of the beloved grandchildren often.

She is survived by sons, Kevin, Todd (Dee), Scott (DeeDee), Mark (Julie). Grandchildren Shelby (Josh), Renae (Justin), Alex, Maggie, and Jordan. Sister Monzella (Jim) McElwain, brothers Walt, Jim (Myra) Havenridge, brother-in-law Al (Carol) Sesemann, and special friend Norman Curley. Rose was preceded in death by her husband Charley.

Visitation Thursday 5:00- 7:00 PM at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N. 108th St. Funeral Service 1:00 PM Friday(5/27/2022) at Roeder Mortuary. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials to St. Jude Hospital or Make A Wish Foundation.

Mary G. Johnson

May 18, 1946-May 20, 2022

Age: 76

Omaha – Proceeded in death by first husband: Richard Schill; parents Harold & Florine Sheridan; brothers Patrick and Kelly; and sister Kathy.

Survived by her beloved husband of 31 years: Clayton Jr. and son Patrick Schill; sisters: Sharon, Maureen and Margaret; and brothers Mike and Dan; as well as many loving family and friends.

Her visitation will be Wednesday 5-7 PM at 108th Chapel; Service 10 AM Thursday (5/26/2022) at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran 6201 N. 60th St. Omaha, NE; Inurnment following the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery Omaha, NE.

There will be a luncheon at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church following inurnment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Maurice “Moe” Patrick Morgan

Loving husband, father and grandfather, Maurice “Moe” Patrick Morgan, passed away on May 19,2022 at the age of 87. Moe was born to Harold and Ella Morgan on February 27, 1935. He and his five siblings spent most of their childhood in Omaha, Nebraska. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957. Moe will be remembered as a patriot who loved his country and its flag. He returned to Omaha, where he remained for the rest of his life. He found his calling when he joined the Omaha Fire Department, where he served as a firefighter for 32 years. He was best known for delivering his quick wit with a twinkle in his eye, and he will be remembered for his kindness and compassion.

Moe was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Joellen, Jerome, Mary Ann, and Lucille; and daughter-in-law, Holly Thibault Morgan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Patricia “Patty” Morgan of Omaha; brother, Thomas Morgan of Arizona; daughter, Maria Morgan-Butcher of San Francisco; sons, Michael (Laura Schabloske) Morgan of Omaha, Matthew Morgan of Yellowstone, and Mario (Heather) Morgan of Omaha; grandchildren, Margaret and Benjamin Morgan-Butcher, Jake and Emily Morgan; step-grandchildren, Amanda and Michael Ilg, and Nora and Reid Morgan; stepson, Brian (Susie) McQuiddy of Fredericksburg, Virginia; brother-in-law, Dennis (Cathy) Blackman; nephew, David Blackman; nieces, Jenny (Ryan) Hamlin; Becca (Tom) Lipari; and great-nephews and great nieces, Teddy Blackman, Reed, Bennett, and Cate Hamlin; and Janie Lipari.

Alice M. Johnson-Freeman

July 5, 1957 – May 11, 2022

Alice was born July 5, 1957 in Omaha, NE to Bertha Johnson-Whiteside and Monroe Willis.

Alice joined Greater New Hope as a young child and attender St. John Baptist Church.  She attended Tech High and worked at various nursing homes.

Alice loved her family, she enjoyed traveling and shopping and would dress to the tee, she loved her clothes and shoes.

She is proceeded in death by her father, Monroe Willis, step-father Douglas Whiteside Sr, Children:  Kizzy Marie and DeAnthony Freeman; siblings:  Shirley, Larry, Raymond Johnson and Patricia Ann Cosey.

Alice leaves to cherish and honor her memories:  Sons, Jeremy (Susan) Johnson, Lincoln, NE and Lamont (Laura) Freeman. Granddaughter:  D’Iujai Johnson, Mother, Bertha Johnson-Whiteside; Husband, Lowry (Larry) Scott; Brothers:  Lonnie Johnson, Gregory Whitlow (Milwaukee, WI) and Richard (Christy) Whiteside; Sisters:  Darlene Johnson (Leavenworth, NV) and Carman Michelle Johnson, and her Michigan family of sisters and brothers along with all her Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
