Survived by daughters, Nichole Marson (Dan), Michelle (Al Figueroa); grandchildren, Bobbi Dawes, Matthew Figueroa; brothers, Harold Williams “Skeeter”, Willie (Marla); sister, Cherry Ann Dunn; a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

William “Bill” Karpan

Carolyn Hansen

Carolyn (Rowan) Hansen was born May 24, 1966, in Clarinda, IA to Marvin and Merilyn (Russell) Rowan. She was united in marriage to Mark Hansen on August 25, 1990 at the United Presbyterian Church, College Springs, IA. They enjoyed nearly 32 years of marriage together.

Carolyn graduated from South Page Community High School in College Springs in 1984. Following high school she attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA, where she graduated in 1988 with a biology degree before obtaining a masters in physical therapy from the University of Iowa.

After moving to Omaha in 1993, she began a 29-year-long career at Westside Community Schools where she worked in the Special Education department as a physical therapist. She believed this to be her life’s work and found joy in it daily. Many of her coworkers became her extended family.

The common thread of Carolyn’s life was her rock-solid faith and joyful demeanor. She was a friend to all with a smile that would light up any room and a laugh that would fill it. She enjoyed reading, having an ever-growing list of books to check out from the library, taking road trips with the family–most often to Estes Park, CO–sitting around a campfire in the evening chatting with friends, and tending her garden where she cultivated flowers of many varieties.

She is survived by her husband Mark Hansen, Omaha, NE; children Kyle Hansen (wife Haley), Waterloo, IA, Julia Hansen, Washington, MO, and Sydney Hansen, Minneapolis, MN; parents Marvin and Merilyn (Russell) Rowan, College Springs, IA; brother David Rowan (wife Erin Frazier), Lafayette, CO; many relatives and friends.

Carolyn will be missed by all.

Calvin R. Humphrey

28 August 1925 – 18 May 2022

Calvin (Cal) R. Humphrey passed away on the 18th of May 2022 after an extended illness.  Cal was born in Emporia, Kansas the third child of Robert and Sue Rawlings Humphrey.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family being proceeded in death by his brothers, Robert, Galin and two sisters Jean Miller and Sue Hancock.

After completing high school Lees Summit, Mo. Cal joined the Marine Corps being a member of the 5th Marine Corps Division, 27th Marines. His company was part of the initial beach invasion of Iwo Jima in Feb. 1945.  After the war he returned home to St. Joseph, Missouri where he met future wife, Eleanor Jean Owens.  They were married on Oct 19. 1947, remaining happily together for the remainder of his life.  Cal is survived by his wife, Jeannie, sons, Ronald (Linda), John (Jeanine), Michael (Jane), eleven grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, scattered over the North American continent.

After marring and a short stint at farming, Cal took a job as a cattle buyer for Swift and Company in St. Joseph, Missouri. He subsequently changed employers, moving to Seitz.  When not buying cattle he learned the ins and outs of the slaughter house business.  In 1965 he relocated the family to Sterling, Colorado where he became the President and CEO of Sterling Colorado Beef Company.  He remained at that position for the next 25 years growing the company to the dominant meat packer in eastern Colorado.

Cal was quite proficient at golf, tennis, very much enjoyed upland and waterfowl hunting in his younger years, however his true passion was fishing, spending many terrific days fishing with family and friends.

Cal had a wonderful sense of humor, gift of gab, love for family, love for his country and was blessed with mid-western honesty and generosity.  He was loved by his entire family, extended family and many friends over the years.  He will truly be missed and remembered.

Interment of ashes will be carried out Friday, August 26, 11 AM at, Omaha National Cemetery with.  This will be followed by a memorial celebration at, “Venue on the Ridge”, Elkhorn, NE at 1 PM.

William Murphy Walker

William Murphy Walker was born in Omaha, Nebraska on October 17, 1941 the third child to Haskel Walker Sr and Virginia Walker.

Murphy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Green Baptist Church. While attending Pleasant Green, Murphy served in many different ministries Deacon, choir member, Sunday School Teacher, Midweek Prayer Service Leader, Bible Study and Layman Ministry. Murphy was also a member of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Murphy was a very faithful servant.

Murphy was united in matrimony to Dorothy Mae Jacobs on June 18, 1963. To this union 3 children were born Galen, Beth Ann and Tina.

Murphy was employed at Methodist Hospital for a short period of time and then was employed at Ideal Cement and Stone for over 30 years as a machine operator.

Murphy never met a stranger. He was always quick to make friends and leave a positive impact.

Murphy was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mae Walker, father Haskel Walker Sr, mother Virginia Jesse Mozee Walker, brother Wayne Maurice (twin), and sisters Katherine Foreman and Lillian Odessa Thomas. Murphy’s memories will be cherished by his son Galen (Lisa) Omaha, Nebraska, daughters Beth Ann of Chicago, IL and Tina of Omaha, Nebraska, brother Haskel Walker Jr, 3 sisters and brother-in-law, JoAnn Walker and Asenath Walker both of Omaha, Nebraska and Betty (James) Livingston of Houston, TX. 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends.

Funeral Service 10:00 AM Friday (7/29/2022) at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, 5555 Larimore Ave.

Age 89 – Survived by her loving sister, Inella (George) Hightower and a host of other loving family and friends.
