Gloria J. (Grixby) Creighton

Precious Memories

Gloria (Grixby) Creighton, child of God, was born on September 20, 1938 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late George, Sr. and Pauline Grixby.  She was the second of nine children.  She attended Kellom Elementary, St. Benedict’s Middle School and graduated from Mercy Catholic High School.  She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.  She was a faithful member of Holy Name Catholic Church.

Gloria was united in holy matrimony to George Green, Jr. in 1957 and to this union two sons; Charles Edward, Sr. and Russell Lee were born.  She met the love of her life, John Creighton who she was united in marriage for over 50 years.

Gloria was active in the NAACP Women Omaha Charter and was an avid golfer.  She won several golfing tournaments.  She worked for Omaha Public Schools for over 30 years, retiring in 2017.

Preceded in death by husband; John Creighton, brothers; George Grixby, Jr. and William Grixby, Sr., sisters; Lillian Johnson and Judy McCullough.  Survived by brothers; Ronald (Evelyn) and Michael Grixby, sisters; Patricia Lenton and Arlene Ellis, sons; Charles, Sr. (Wendy) and Russell (Glenda) Green, all of Omaha, Nebraska, grandsons; Charles, Jr. of Coffeyville, Kansas and Terrence, Sr. (Kesha) Green of Kansas City, Missouri, great-grandchildren; Tarynn and Terrence, Jr. Green, nieces, nephews and many family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 2, 2021 with Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Benedict the Moor Parish, 2423 Grant St.

Interment: Forest Lawn Cemetery

Carla Delores Hamilton

Carla Delores Felder-Hamilton was born August 12, 1963 to Jessie and Fannie Felder in Omaha, Nebraska at University Hospital.

She attended Church of Christ in the 70s. In 1979, she joined Second Baptist Church and got baptized. She was a member of Second Baptist Church for 20 years from 1979-1999.

In 1982, she graduated from Omaha Tech High School. In 1983, she attended Omaha College of Health Careers until her health began to fail.

She received her first kidney transplant in 1983 and her second in 2004. She recovered from her first transplant and worked several jobs…TJ Maxx, 1st National Bank and First Data Resources. She worked at Albertson’s from 1993-2004 as a Front End Manager as well at Gordmans’s until they closed.

In 1983, she met her husband Jerry. In 1989, he bought her an engagement ring and on July 7, 1990, they got married and have stayed married for over 30 years.

In 2003, she joined Morning Star Baptist Church and sang in the choir. She loved singing, in the kitchen, in the car, or in the bathroom…she was SINGING!!!

In 2014 she started dialysis and in 2020 she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Her body was weak but her spirit was strong. She really enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. From family get togethers, hanging out at the park or taking road trips….she was with her “babies”. She also enjoyed spending time with her really good friends…Wanda Wright, Gracie Bonner and Sharon Bell.

Carla is preceded in death by her parents; Jessie and Fannie Felder as well her two brother’s; Michael and Milton Felder.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband; Jerry, sister’s; Norma Jean (Tommie) Smith and Vicki Felder, brother; Myron Felder, God-son’s; Jermond Bonner and Ramar Davis ,many, many cousins and friends honor and cherish her memory. Special shoutout to her sister/cousin Rita Taylor.

She truly loved her 68 nieces and nephews and was blessed to be part of such a BIG family.

Funeral Service: 9:00 AM Saturday, February 27th with Visitation at 8:00 AM at Morning Star Baptist Church, 2019 Burdette St.

Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery, 7602 Military Ave.

Gene C. Mackey

8/8/1937 – 2/19/2021

Omaha – Gene Mackey was born in Bancroft, Nebraska on August 8, 1937. He passed into Glory at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on February 19, 2021 at the age of 83 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Effie Mackey and his brothers Donald, Tony, George and Jerome. Gene is survived by his wife Ila, his son Brian, and his daughter Lori (Tom) Garris, family and friends.

The celebration of Gene’s life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 11204 S 204th Street Gretna, NE on March 13th 2021 at 10:00 AM and will be livestreamed on the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Gretna website.

Luella Ellen Williams

Luella E. Williams daughter of late Robert Davis and Virgina Mackla was born November 13, 1929 in Pulaski, Arkansas. She met her husband and later moved to Omaha, Ne. Luella enjoyed helping her family and those around her. She was always there for her family and would give you her last dollar if you needed it! Luella has left behind 4 children. Johnnie/Veartix Williams, Margaret/Charles Robertson, Ileana Williams/Pete Degraffenaried Step son James lee/Anita Smith and her niece Debra Ann Clark/Jesse Carr.

Grandchildren: Lorraine Caldwell, Allen Williams, Tonya Robertson, Corita Burnett, Tauras Williams, Luella Williams, John M. Williams, Deanna Dunn, Teish Brimmer, Carla Brimmer Tyrone Knight and Patrick Carbin.

17 great-grandchildren,10 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Luella always enjoyed her time with 2 close friends: Minnie Warren (Bossie) and Author. She was also a proud member of the North Omaha Church of Christ where she was Baptist.

Eugene Ronald Hoffman (Ron)

Hoffman, Eugene Ronald (Ron)
September 26, 1936 – February 17, 2021
Ron passed away on February 17, 2021 in Omaha, NE. He is preceded in death by parents, Ena & John Hoffman, brother Jack (Nova) Hoffman and sister Patricia (Jess) Hoffman. Ron is survived by a blended family that loved him very much. Those included are his companion of 37 years, Rebecca Willcoxon; children Ron (Peggy) Hoffman, Kim (Rich) Snider and Shari Hoffman and 2 granddaughters April (Lee) Lorshbaugh & Amber (Neal) McElroy and 4 great grandchildren Penelope, Isaiah, Gabrielle & Jonathan. His step children are Aletha (Randy) Nelson, Shawn (Shelli) Willcoxon and Sheryl (Glenn) Tschimpke and 7 additional grandchildren Nicole, Amanda, Cameron, Paige, Emma, Zoey & Luke. Nieces, nephews and many friends also mourn his passing.

Ron was employed at Mutual of Omaha for 43 years and developed many friendships throughout that time. He was also a veteran having served in the United States Navy for 4 years.

Although Ron has passed, we know he will always be with us. This may come to each of us as a different sign and on February 18th, a beautiful red cardinal appeared in our backyard tree. Folklore has it that a cardinal is a sign of a visitor from heaven; Ron is still with us.

Funeral Services Friday May 28, 2001 at 1:00 PM at Omaha National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
