Claude Daniel Nachun

Claude Daniel Nachun died peacefully on November 20, 2021 with the comfort of knowing the beautiful eternity that was prepared ahead for him. Those who knew Claude remember his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, his loving dedication to his family, how much he enjoyed tending to his yard, and of course, classical music. Claude’s family can only imagine the beautiful music he is hearing now.

Whenever someone met Claude, they would immediately light up at the sound of his beautiful French accent and warm smile. He was born right outside of Paris, in Choisy-le-Roi, and moved to America in his early adulthood where he met his loving wife, Debbie. Together they brought their children, Daniel and Emily, into the world and enjoyed watching them grow and flourish into their own lives. Their family can recall many warm memories, often in the simple moments at home, filled with conversations and lots of laughter.

In a self-focused world, Claude stood out for having a servant’s heart. Whether it was clearing the snow out of a neighbor’s driveway, helping someone fix their computer, or simply giving someone a ride – serving gave him joy. Claude’s wife and children always found this trait admirable and aspire to follow in his footsteps.

In the last years of Claude’s life, he was enjoying retirement after an expansive career resume; his work ranged from being a computer programming consultant to an international retail customer service representative. Although his retirement years were cut short due to unforeseen illness, he still made the best of each day and found enjoyment in the small things, which is a lesson his family will never forget.

Claude’s faith and assurance in his Savior deeply comforted him in the last chapter of his earthly journey. He carried this peace about where he was going with him to his final breath. His family knows that his departure wasn’t the end, but rather they will see him later.

Upon graduation he accepted his first teaching job in Springview, Nebraska.  After his first year he decided to enlist in the military.  However, upon completing the physical he was given a medical deferment.  He then returned to Springview to teach.

In 1973 Ed moved to Sargent to teach instrumental music and eventually vocal music as well.  He also coached girls’ basketball and the golf team.  It was in Sargent that he met Carol Fries, a fellow teacher.  They were married on July 29, 1976.  A date they shared with his parents, sister, and brother.  To this union a son Edwin (Allen) Thamer IV was born.
