Rertha Lewis

Rertha Lewis was born December 9, 1954 to Ruby and Jummy Lewis in Birmingham, Alabama. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska as a baby.

She went to Lake Elementary, Horace Mann Middle School and graduated from Tech High School.  Rertha excelled on the track team at Tech High.

She loved her family and you could always count on her being there, good or bad. She was loved and liked by everyone who had the chance to meet her.

She loved to dance and cook. She would feed anyone and everyone regardless if you were hungry or not. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune, Little House on the Prairie and The Oval.  She loved texting her grandkids and doing her crossword puzzles.

Rertha is preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Ruby Lewis; brother, Henry Lee Gafford; sisters, Virginia Lewis-Robinson and Georgia Gafford.  Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Yolanda Lewis; son, Bruce Lewis; grandchildren, Dwayne D., De’Onsha R., DiQuan S., Alexes L., Joy V.; great grandchildren, Joshua D., Dwayne S., DeMarcus L., MyTrell D., Nikye H.; sisters, Johnnie Moore, Margie Lewis, Etta Webster; brothers, Howard Freem, Jerry Lewis, John Simmons (Judy); in-laws, Lamont Davis, Michelle Bell, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation: Thursday, March 25, 2021 – 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Mortuary.

Celebration of Life: Friday, March 26, 2021 – 11:00 AM at Roeder Mortuary, 4932 Ames Ave.
