Raymond P. Dotzler Sr. (Ray)

Omaha – At the age of 90, Raymond left this life in his sleep, but awoke in heaven early October 12, 2019.

Ray was born and raised in Defiance, Iowa and married Delores Thielen of Portsmouth, Iowa in 1951. Soon after, he was drafted to serve in the Korean War. After his service, he and Delores lived in Harlan, Iowa then moved to Defiance so he could play town-team baseball. They lived there for 36 years, raising their eight children. Ray was a meat cutter and owned the Defiance Locker, was a volunteer on the fire department, a vice-commander for the American Legion, served at Saint Peter Church and coached little league sports. When Ray and Delores became empty-nesters, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1987 to be closer to their family and grandchildren.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Delores (Thielen) and his daughter, Lois (Mike Cromwell). Survived by his children; Mary (Art Bieker), Joe (Barb), Ray Jr. (Jan), Ron (Twany), Paul (Julie), David (Sandy), and Beth (Bruce Connor).

The Ray and Delores Dotzler family of 133 includes spouses, 38 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.

Ray’s children would like to invite everyone who knew him to come celebrate with us a life well lived. Well done good and faithful servant!

Visitation is 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 17 at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 North 108th Street, Omaha, NE.

Funeral Service is 10:30 AM, Friday, October 18 at Bridge Church, 3223 North 45th Street, Omaha, NE.

Interment is 2:00 PM, Monday, October 21 at the Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Road, Omaha, NE.
