Judith ‘Judi’ Wenzel

March 13. 1952- May 15, 2021

On Saturday May 15, Judi passed peacefully and started her eternal life with Jesus.

Judi was born to parents Jack Ward and Joan Gilbert on March 13, 1952 in Weatherford, Texas. She grew up in Fortworth with her siblings Jane, Jan, and Blake. Her family moved to Atlanta, Georgia for a brief period, but settled down in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She graduated from Albert Lea Senior High School in 1970 and attended college briefly after.

Judi met her husband Daryl and was married on August 15, 1981. They moved to Eagle Lake, MN and started their family with their three children Erica, Lauren and Bryan. In 1991, Judi and Daryl moved to West Des Moines, Iowa where they raised their children and planted roots for the next 17 years. In 2008, Judi and Daryl moved to Omaha, Nebraska.

Judi loved socializing and spending time with her family and friends. She was active in her church in West Des Moines and enjoyed helping with vacation bible school and other fellowship events over the years. She held a variety of jobs including some factory work, office work, and an assistant school nurse. Her most loved job was raising her children.

Judi was a bright and vibrant woman who loved people and life. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Joan Slen, and granddaughter Ruthie Becker. She is survived by her father Jack Ward; husband Daryl Wenzel; their three children Erica Becker (Jonny), Lauren Halter

(Dan), and Bryan Wenzel; grandchildren Olivia and Benjamin Becker; siblings Jane Ward, Jan Lloyd (Mike), and Blake Ward (Sheila); sister-in-law Diane Wesley (Rich); brother-in-law Craig Wenzel (Lesley); and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life will be held Thursday May 20th at 10:30 am at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church; 510 N 93rd St. Omaha Ne 68164. The service will be available to stream for those unable to attend in person; a luncheon to follow the service.
