Jacqualine Ruth Jones
Jacqualine Ruth Jones was born April 25, 1956 in Tyler, Texas to Jessie Earl Jones and Baby Ruth (Curtis) Jones. Although she lost her mother at a very young age, she was raised surrounded by love from her father, bonus mother and generations of grandparents and great grandparents. Jackie enjoyed her childhood and was known by many names: Slama-Lama, “JackieJones” and everyone’s favorite, Jack-a-roof (Jack a ruth). She constantly recalled these memories fondly, especially with her favorite “playmates” Shirley, Brady, Virginia, Nedra, Debra Kay, Annie, Sadie and of course the infamous Ms. Katherine.
Jackie developed her lifetime of faith and dedicated to God at Hopewell #1 Baptist Church in Swan, Texas at an early age. She attended Carver Elementary and Boulter Junior High. But one of her proudest moments was being on the Blue Brigade and graduating class of 1974 from John Tyler High School. Shortly after graduation she moved to Omaha, Nebraska which would be her home for the next 47 years.
She joined Salem Baptist Church shortly after moving to Omaha where she raised her two children Chianti (Kisha) and Skyler and remained an active member until her death. She was an officer of the Douglas County Correctional Center for 13 years until her retirement a few years ago. She was known amongst her family and friends to have an open door. If you needed help or just a place to stay temporarily, Jackie’s was the place you came to and felt safe. She was an outstanding cook and a fabulous mom, but her pride and joy were her three grands-Elijah Jared, Danavia Adele-Marie and Sophie Joy.
Jackie was greeted in Heaven by her mother; Baby Ruth Curtis-Jones, father; Jessie Earl Jones, grandparents; JD Jones, Sr. and Claudia D. Jones, Lewis Curtis and Ollie Mae Caldwell, brother; Gary Green, niece and many other family members and friends.
Jackie is survived by her loving daughter; Chianti Kirksey (Omaha), devoted son and daughter-in-law; Skyler and Sara Jones (Honolulu), grandchildren; Elijah Nunn, Danavia Nunn (Omaha) and Sophie Jones (Honolulu), bonus mother; Bernice Jones (Tyler), brothers; Jessie Glenn (Bonnie) Jones (laPorte, Texas), Tony Green, sister; Charlotte Green (Tyler), adoptive families the Shears (Omaha) and Tony and LaWanda Meeks (Tyler), hosts of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, numerous friends, adoptive children and grandchildren.
