Frances Ann Kientzle (Ward) Lundy

Frances (Fran) Ann Ward Lundy, age 93, passed away peacefully October 6, 2019 due to natural causes while surrounded by her family. She was born March 7, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Gustav and Sarah Catherine Latus Kientzle. She married John Daniel Ward, Sr. in 1948 who preceded her in death.  She married William Lundy in 1974 who also preceded her in death.

Fran loved having children and would tell people she felt wonderful during her 99 months of pregnancy!  She and John raised their 11 children to put their faith in God which has been very impactful to all her children and grandchildren.  She loved to play tennis, playing into her 80’s.  She also loved to walk and hike and was a member of Walk About Arizona logging many miles with her friends. 

She graduated from Rosary College with a Bachelor of Arts in Library Science and was a librarian after her children were raised.  She volunteered at the VA hospital in Phoenix for many years and delivered Meals on Wheels in Gretna, Nebraska.  She was an active member of the Gretna Community Church and has many friends there.  She loved to read her bible and Christian books.

Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”  She worked hard at renewing her mind in the things of the Lord.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Elizabeth Schaefer and her son John Ward, Jr.  She is survived by her brother Thomas Kientzle, ten of her children, Mary Kathleen Ward, James Francis Lundy (Nancy), Daniel Mark Ward (Gloria), Thomas Joseph Ward (Mary Frances), Frances Ann Buck (Bruce), Michael Peter Ward (Cathy Lynne), Patrick Martin Ward (Cathy), William Gerald Ward (Karen Lynn), Teresa Maureen Wheeler (Michael) and Julie Rose Waymire (Rick).  She is also survived by 51 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren.

Visitation Thursday 5:00-7:00 PM at Roeder Mortuary. Funeral Service Friday (10/11/19) 10:00 AM Friday at Standing Stone Bible Church 321 S Highway 6 Gretna.  Graveside Service Friday 1:30 PM Forest Lawn Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers Memorials to Standing Stone Bible Church.
