Gary Ray Relford

Gary had a passion for family. He started the first Sanders’ Family Reunion in Omaha along with his sister and cousin Teddy. Gary used his electric wheelchair like a top of the line Mercedes- Benz. He loved to travel to New York, Kansas City, Oklahoma and Forth Smith, Arkansas. He was full of life and never let his illness hold him down. He was there for every BBQ and party, even if you were in the hospital, he was there. He had the biggest smile and loved to sing and play cards. Gary went home peacefully at his home on July 26, 2020 after a courageous battle of Septicemia with his sister Neicy and brother Randy at his side. Gary was born on Sunday February 21, 1965 in Omaha, NE to Beatren & Barbara Wills Relford. He was the baby of 5 children. He accepted Christ at a young age where he was a member Mt. Kirk L. Pulliam

9/16/1968 – 8/2/2020

Omaha – Kirk Lane Pulliam was born September 16, 1968, the youngest of Oscar and Muriel Pulliam’s six children. He grew up playing football and running track. He always made it home before the streetlights came on.
He continued football and track at Omaha Burke High School where he graduated in 1987. Three years later he joined the United States Marine Corps, which took him all over the world and he loved it. As an assault rifleman, his battalion was the first to enter Kuwait after Iraq’s invasion in 1990. He went from ship to land using an amtrac. Sick from the fumes, he entered to find snipers firing at him. Pulliam was ready to fire his rocket launcher, then his commander called it off. Kirk was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1994 and moved to Sioux City, Iowa then Yakima, Washington where his high school sweetheart and wife lived. Kirk married Cindy Andrew spontaneously on October 18, 1990 before he left for war.
In 1996, the couple moved back to Omaha. Kirk held various jobs before he landed at the IBEW Local 22 electrical union in 2009. Kirk loved to tell people he installed all the cameras at the Ameritrade Baseball stadium. He also provided phone, internet, etc. to several other well-known places throughout Omaha and most recently was working on the large Children’s Hospital addition.
At 34 years old, Kirk became a father to Alexa Pulliam. She was his pride and joy and helped with everything. He always wanted a family. A year and a half later Andrew was born, followed by Kirk Jr in 2007. Kirk was an excellent father, putting the kids on a routine right away. A routine that is followed to this day. He coached the boy’s baseball team and encouraged Kirk Jr to get his black belt taking him to class several times a week. Earlier, he worked immensely with Cindy as they taught Andrew how to talk. They succeeded.
Kirk always put his family first. He was an extremely hard worker who was always there to lend a hand. His positive attitude radiated throughout a room. He loved to laugh and joke around. It was very rare to see him in a bad mood. Kirk believed Jesus Christ was his savior and shared his Christian values often. He attended Keystone Bible Chapel just about every Sunday with his family. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed, but he will always be with us. His spirit is strong and thrives in his family.

Survived by wife Cindy, children Alexa, Andrew, Kirk Jr., parents Oscar & Muriel Pulliam, siblings Joi King (Willie), Jana Sledge (Ricky), Sabrina Pulliam (Beverly), David Pulliam, loving family & friends.

Gloria A. Mason

Gloria Ann Tietjen was born on 11/11/1939 to Theodore O. and Lily Schleifer Tietjen, the 3rd of three children, on the family farm. She was raised in Thayer county and attended the Cracker Box one room schoolhouse and then Chester High School, graduating in 1957. Her parents were strong German Lutherans and she was raised accordingly. She furthered her schooling at UNL earning her teaching degree in 1961.
She met the love of her life at a dance in Bruning, Nebraska, Rick Mason, and they married on July 21,1962 at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in rural Thayer County. To this union were born 3 children, Beth Ann, Angela June, and Thomas Richard.
She began her teaching career in Omaha and taught at Western Hills elementary for one year, then started at Gretna Public Schools in 1962. She taught 3rd and 4th grade off and on for 30 years, taking a few years off to raise the kids after Tom was born. She was involved in coaching girls track and girls volleyball early in her career. She also began the annual track and field day which was the highlight of many of the elementary students’ year. She loved teaching as it was her true calling.
She and Rick did almost everything together including many years of bowling, softball, volleyball, bridge, golf (including 2 holes in one) and loved attending their children’s and grand children’s events. They also enjoyed gambling at Ameristar regularly. Gloria even won a Mercedes Benz in 2015. She always had the luck.
Unfortunately, that luck ran out in 2019 when she was diagnosed with ALS. She passed peacefully with family surrounding her on 7/30/2020. We are so blessed to have had Gloria as our wife and mother. She was our rock and our role model.
