March 13, 1932 – May 27, 2021

Age 89 of Omaha, NE passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021. He was born on March 13, 1932 in Hebron, NE to Arlo and Lorna (Jestes) McMillan. Mac grew up in the Alexandria, NE area and attended Alexandria High School where he met the love of his life, Wandalee Knigge. He graduated in 1948 and married Wanda in 1951. He started his career with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1950 and retired in 1994. He worked various roles through his 44 year career such as telegrapher, wire chief and freight agent. Mac served as president of the UP Old Timers Club and spent 17 years as the train chairman. He was also active in many organizations including Elks, Eagle Club and Shriners. Mac and Wanda made many lifelong friends through these activities as well as those they met during their winters in Arizona at Verde West.

Mac is preceded in death by parents, Arlo and Lorna; sister, Darlene. Survived by wife, Wanda; daughters, Lynne (Fran) Olivigni and Cathy (Dan) Schmaderer; sons, Bob (Pam), and Mike (Kathy); 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Roeder Mortuary Chapel in Gretna on Friday, July 2nd at 10am. Family Graveside Service will follow at the Alexandria Cemetery at 3pm. Memorials suggested American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Bellevue – Ken was born in New York city; he was very proud to be a graduate of SUNY (State University of New York). Ken was a person that enjoyed spending time with friends and family and he loved having a good conversation. He also was proud to be a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by wife, Esther B., parents Otto and Alice, brother Otto. Survived by Step daughter Michelle (Jonal) Broekemier, grandson Noah (Angie) (great grandson Oliver), Noland (Kristin), Derrick, brother Alex, family and friends.

Ruby L. Thornton Freeman, 1/18/1939 to May 21, 2021.  Preceded in death by parents, George Thornton and Isabel Moorehead.  Survived by children, John Joseph Jr., Ronnie Joseph, Anthony Faulkner, Jeffrey Faulkner, and Cassandra Faulkner, sisters, Doris Thornton, and Shirley Martin, brother, James Earl Thornton, 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and an abundance of friends.

Ruby fell ill recently, and unexpectedly passed away May 21, 2021. Visitation: 10 to 11 am with Funeral service at 11 am, Thursday, May 27th Roeder Mortuary, 4932 Ames Ave.  Entombment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Celebration of life will be held afterward at the Elks Lodge.

Benjamin Franklin

November 16, 1945 – May 20, 2021

Brother Benjamin A. Franklin born November 16, 1945 in Aliquippa Pa. the son of the late Advanced Presiding Elder Alvertis Benjamin Franklin and Senior Mother Patricia (Cora) Lorraine Franklin. Ben departed this life May 20, 2021 at Immanuel Hospital.

Benjamin was born a member of the Supreme Council of the Hose of Jacob. He dedicated much time in his youth to pioneering in Bethlehem Township Ohio. He was known for contributing his time and energy to many projects that helped build the church. He could often be found repairing church fans. He was also a phenomenal painter and handyman; he used these skills to benefit the upkeep of the Omaha Mission.

In 1965 Benjamin joined the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War as a paratrooper with the 101st air born division. After the war he started and ran multiple businesses.

Benjamin moved to Omaha, Ne. in 2000, where he united in matrimony in 2005 to Elderess Alisa (Bibbs) Franklin and recently celebrated 16 years of marriage. In Omaha he was known for is love and service for the Lord. His favorite song was God Is Good to Me. One of his favorite scriptures to read upon request was Psalms the 73rd division. He also found much joy in giving the church literature as gifts to his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Benjamin was preceded in death by his brother, Mr. Leroy W. Smith and 2 sisters, Mrs. Vivian Gibson and Mrs. Etherine Tipper.

He is survived by his wife, Elderess Alisa Franklin and his siblings, Advanced Senior Mother, Olive P. James of Camp Dennison Ohio, Senior Mother, Lenora Davis of Aliquippa Pennsylvania, Elderess Esther Smith of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Elderess Priscilla Ballard of Omaha, Nebraska, Brother, Absalom Franklin of Omaha, Nebraska, Sister, Lorraine Andrews of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mr. Paul D. Franklin of San Mateo, California, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held at 9:00 am Thursday, May 27,2021 at Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Rd. Those who wish to remember Benjamin is a special way may send gifts in his memory to 6310 N. 63rd St. Omaha, Ne. 68104.
