Lois Belle Brunson

May 4th, 1926- July 10th, 2019

On July 10, 2019 Lois Brunson left this world peacefully in her sleep to join the loved ones awaiting her arrival in Heaven.

Lois Belle Breese was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 4th, 1926 to parents Elmo and Vivian Breese.  She married James Richard Brunson in 1943 and followed him through his Air Force career bringing her to places throughout the United States and across the seas to Japan.  Her pride of seeing Jim retire as a Colonel after a 33-year military career shone through. Lois even had three B17 bombers named after her!  She would frequently remanence on the wartime stories, speak of the challenges of raising a family through those harrowing times and would share letters and trinkets she received from Jim during his travels.

Upon Jim’s death in 1978, Lois continued her career at Erickson Petroleum doing corporate banking services into her 70s. She also was extremely active in her church, Shepard of the Lake Lutheran Church in Prior Lake, Minnesota volunteering much of her time to celebrate her strong faith.

Lois was fiercely independent yet generous beyond measure.  She dedicated much of her time to helping others whether that be a grandchild with homework, a friend who needed a drive to the doctor and a hand around the house, or simply with a word of wisdom, a friendly phone call or offerings of encouragement.  She truly embodied her motto “if you don’t use it, you lose it”.  She waterskied into her 70’s, attended work out and yoga classes into her late 80’s and was always up for a game of catch or busy chasing around her grandkids.

Surviving Lois are her sons, Don (Nancy) Brunson of Jefferson, Wisconsin and Jeff (Michelle) Brunson of Shawano, Wisconsin; sister Gwen Laughlin of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Patrick (Lisa) Brunson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kelly (Steve) Kanotz of College Grove, Tennessee, Katherine (Rich Coleman) Lovelace Brunson of Lexington, Kentucky, Paul Brunson of Jefferson, Wisconsin, Courtney Brunson of Jefferson Wisconsin, Kristine (Jason Fischer) Brunson of Hobart, Wisconsin; Great-Grandchildren Matthew (Cheyenne), Carl (Megan), Tyler, Katie, Andrew, Hannah, Julia, Colby, Taylor and Arien; Great-Great-Grandchildren, Everett and Evander, as well as many nieces and nephews and dear family and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents Elmo and Vivian, husband Jim, son Dick, grand-daughter Ann Marie and many other cherished family and friends.

While Lois will no longer be with us, she will live on in the cherished memories of the great many lives she touched throughout her time with us.

Kyle Michael Lathan

Kyle entered the world fighting to claim his place on this Earth. He overcame many obstacles from birth until he was called home. God had placed his own real life sour patch kid here. Known for his crooked smile, love of trains, rap music, singing, dancing and his incredible spirit. Courtesy of his Grandma, Kyle was a kid who always asked, “How you sleep last night?” Strangers were not exempt from the questions either, although he rarely allowed enough of a pause for any of us to answer him. He had a way of grinding your nerves and in that same moment, making you laugh. Whether you knew him by Kyle, Shadow, Kyle Barker, Mr. Kyle or as grandma would say “My Boy” he always shined bright in his life. He would always give you the thumbs up so you knew he was alright.
