Robert L. Mosby Sr.

8/3/1938 – 10/15/2019
Gretna – Robert Mosby, son of Ernest and Myrtle (Pinckney) Mosby was born on August 3rd, 1938 in Winterset, Iowa.  He always said, “His only claim to fame was being from the same town as John Wayne.”

On December 29th, 1957, Robert and Mary Jane Minnick were married at the Tingley Presbyterian Church.  They were blessed with three children, Robert Jr. (Bob) wife Sheri, Craig and Carolyn.

Creston Iowa was their home town for the next thirteen years.  Robert drove for UPS in Creston and was then transferred to Omaha Nebraska. The family wanted to live in a small town.   They moved to Gretna, Nebraska, which has since been their home.  After leaving UPS, Robert drove a tractor trailer for United AG Wholesale Grocers for 27 years, Todd Letter Carriers, True Trucking Company, and Exclusive Gardens.

Robert always enjoyed the winter months that were spent in Texas. He had friends from many different states.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, children Bob Mosby (Sheri) , Craig Mosby, Carolyn O’Brien, grandchildren Robert Mosby III (Jaimie), Kevin O’Brien, Eddie O’Brien (Cami), Aaron Mosby (Kayleigh), Jessica Nastasi (Gino), Bailey O’Brien, great grandchildren Blaise Mosby, Elliot Mosby, John O’Brien, Sully O’Brien, sisters Darlene Freeman, Virginia Eighme and husband Dean, brothers Bob Vanderlinden and wife Jann, and Steve Vanderlinden and wife Sharon, family and friends. 

Those proceeding him in death are his parents, sister Evelyn Mosby, brother Andrew Mosby, and brother in law, Harry Freeman.

Rashad Johnson

1990 ~ 2019

Johnson, Rashad Z. “Zannie” born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 16, 1990 and transitioned into eternity on October 7, 2019.  Rashad was the oldest child of Audrielle Lee Nelson and Victor Daniel Johnson.  His life was full of love.  He was known for being an encourager of others.  Rashad was a graduate of Central High School and avid singer. His life unexpectedly ended as a result of a massive heart attack.  He is proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents; Virginia Lee Boults Penfield & Arthur Lee Boults, paternal grandmother; Lee Dora Johnson. He is survived by his parents Audrielle Nelson (Keenan) and Victor Johnson (Tammy); Grandfather, Samuel Johnson (Jo Anna). Siblings Amaan, Xalaya, Keelin, Victoria, Kenyon Johnson. Kalaya and Kamara Nelson. Host of stepbrothers and sisters. Nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

VISITATION: Friday, October 18, 2019, from 5:00p to 7:00p at Salam Baptist Church (3131 Lake Street, Omaha, NE).  FUNERAL: Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 9:30a at Salam Baptist Church (3131 Lake Street, Omaha, NE). Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. (7909 Mormon Bridge Rd, Omaha, NE).

Helen K. Glanzer

On Tuesday, October 15, 2019, Helen K. Glanzer, of Omaha, passed away at the age of 97. 

Helen was born on March 24, 1922 in Winkler, Kansas to Ludwig and Lena Lass Glanzer.  She received her nursing degree from Trinity Lutheran Hospital Nursing School in Kansas City, MO in 1944.  In a calling that spanned over 50 years, Helen specialized in obstetric care, initially working on the obstetrics floor of Immanuel Hospital before becoming head nurse at the obstetrics clinic of Dr. Leon S. McGoogan, a position she held for many years.  Helen later spent many years volunteering at Immanuel Hospital.  Helen was also an entrepreneur, building and owning a motel in Randolph, Kansas.

Helen loved travel, and treasured seeing new sights in different countries.  Closer to home, she greatly enjoyed the company of her cats.  Most of all, she enjoyed helping new mothers and their babies at the clinic, where generations of families in the Omaha area knew her as “Nurse Helen”. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.  She is survived by her longtime friend Karen M. Stille, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Visitation Thursday, October 17th at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N 108th St. Omaha from 5 – 7 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18th, at Pacific Hills Lutheran Church, 1110 S. 90th St., Omaha at 10 am, with internment to be held in Winkler, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Nebraska Humane Society and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Age 97 – Preceded in death by mother, Louise Kraft and sister, Ruth L. Moeller. Survived by son, Ronald Dean Kraft (Guiana); daughter, Deborah Fultz; grandchildren, great grandchildren and loving family.
