Arlene was born on 3/30/1947 to Clarion and Frances Haynes. As a 4-year-old child, she knew exactly what she wanted to do in life: teach. It’s no surprise that upon graduating Benson High School, she attended UNO, receiving her Bachelor’s degree and later obtaining her Master’s +30 in early childhood education.

Her adult life was spent teaching in both an educational and spiritual setting. She taught at Oak Valley Elementary for 34 years, and then became a supervisor for student teachers through UNO and UNL for 16 years.

A member of Covenant Presbyterian Church for 32 years, Arlene taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, positively impacting more than 2,000 children. She was involved in numerous small group ministries (Adult Christian Education, Women’s and Children’s Bible Studies, etc.), co-founded the Prayer Shawl Ministries, and served as a Deacon and Stephen Minister.

Arlene’s life was dedicated to her passion – helping others to grow and learn.

She is survived by her sister-in-law: Wanda Haynes; nieces & nephews: Jody Haynes (Kim Miles), Dawn Haynes, Kyle Haynes; 2 great-nieces: Krystal Haynes, Cherri-Anna Haynes; and a host of other loving family & friends.
