Today, our hearts are broken as we all mourn the loss of our beloved sister, Peggy Ann Koenigsman, 72, who passed away on March 27, 2022, while bravely battling cancer and COPD.

Peggy was born on July 4, 1949, in Grand Island, Nebraska and lived much of her life in Omaha, Nebraska.  She was a graduate of Marian High School and attended the University of Nebraska Omaha.  Peggy was a loving daughter, dear sister, adoring aunt, cousin, and friend.  A private and reserved woman, above all, she enjoyed spending time with family, especially around the kitchen table playing cards.  We are so grateful for the time, laughter, and love we’ve shared with our sister, and we will remember how she faced many health challenges, and life in general, with amazing grace, dignity, and quiet strength.  We will always feel her presence and her laughter in our hearts.

Peggy was predeceased by her loving parents, Frank and Joann Koenigsman, whom she held so close to her heart, and her godson, Capt. David Wisniewski.  She is survived by her siblings, Beverly Wisniewski (Chet) of Iowa City, IA.; Deborah Huntley of Richmond, VA; Bruce Koenigsman (Irene) of Lincoln, NE; Christine Prucha (Rick) of Houston, TX; Jeffrey Koenigsman (Maureen) of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law, Sherry Koenigsman (former spouse to Bruce) of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law, Steve Huntley (former spouse to Deborah) of Winchester, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

At Peggy’s request, in her final wishes, our family will hold a private funeral Mass on April 1, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church in Omaha, NE, a memorial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.  Following services, we will gather around the table, set her a place as we always did, and celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in her name.

The family wishes to thank the many wonderful doctors, nurses, and health care professionals for their compassionate care and support to Peggy over many years.  Our gratitude is immense.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
