Nathan James Horvatich, age 42 died December 15, 2019 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Nathan was born April 2, 1977 in Fremont, NE. Nathan grew up in Hooper, NE. After High School Nathan enlisted in the US Army. Nathan spent three years in Hawaii as a Para Trooper. After three years Nathan joined the Special Forces where he transferred to Fort Bragg, NC and became a Special Forces Senior Sergeant. During his time in Fayetteville, Nathan met Suzanne Schleig and married. Nathan and Suzanne have been married for 18 years and have one son together James Horvatich. During Nathan’s time at Fort Bragg Nathan deployed to Africa, Kuwait and four times to Afghanistan serving against the War on Terror.
Nathan retired from the US Army after 20 years of service with multiple awards. Some of these awards include: Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 3 Campaign Stars, Bronze Star Medal W/ V Device, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal and many more.
Nathan is survived by his wife Suzanne Horvatich, son James Horvatich, father Jim Horvatich step-mother Pepper Horvatich, mother Jeanne Hoffman, grandmother Teresa Hoffman, sister Angie Heinold, brother in law Ray Heinold, niece Emma Heinold, sister Ellie Diaz, brother in law Sean Diaz, nephews Tyler, Eric and Sheamus Diaz and niece Jada Moseman, step sisters Tonnya Figueroa and Tabitha Austin and step brother Jesse Thompson along with many other family and friends.
Nathan will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place in Gretna, NE and in Fayetteville, NC honoring Nathan’s life as a servant of the Lord and special father, son, brother and uncle and friend to many.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family.
