Mitchael E. Anderson Sr.
12/20/1945 – 7/5/2022
Omaha – On Tuesday July 5th 2022, Mitchael E. Anderson Sr., loving husband and father of two, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Mitch was born on December 20, 1945 in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Herman and Dorcas (Bryant) Anderson. After graduating high school in 1964 he entered the Millwrights. In 1971 he met the love of his life, Claudia Anderson (Clements) and the two eloped 3 months later. A marriage that lasted 50 beautiful years. The couple had two children, Heather and Mitch and started their lives in Omaha, NE. In 1983 Mitch suffered a brain hemorrhage that would interrupt his career with the Millwrights. After a long recovery he returned to school to obtain an associate degree in tool and die. From there he eventually returned to the Millwrights and served as financial secretary for several years. He continued his career with the Millwrights until he retired in 2000 at the age of 55. After his retirement he was able to turn one of his favorite hobbies into a career by opening a small engine repair shop which he operated out of his home garage. He continued to run this business until his health started to decline.
Mitch had a passion for cars and was involved in drag racing for some time. Even as his health deteriorated, you were sure to get a reaction out of him if you brought up anything about muscle cars. He loved to tinker and spend time in the garage. He was the original Mr. Fix-it. There was no project too big or too small for him. And although he enjoyed these projects it was not out of the ordinary to hear colorful language or see a tool fly across the room as nothing less than perfect was acceptable. He was quick to temper, but just as quick to forgive. While he had many hobbies, nothing brought him more joy than his family. He loved to be on the floor playing with the kids. Following his father’s tradition, he was known for his riding lawnmower adventures around the yard. He truly enjoyed being with family, regardless of the reason and he loved capturing those moments with all kinds of photos.
Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Dorcas, his brothers Herman Jr., Lanny Sr., Norman, sister Norma (Sis), brother-in-law Ray Fornoff and sisters-in-law Stella and Carol. He is survived by his wife Claudia, daughter Heather and her husband Dan Keats, son Mitch Jr. and girlfriend Ferrell Wilson, brother Dean Sr. and his wife Darlene, grandchildren Melissa, Christopher, Alex, Hannah, Madeline, Emma and AJ and 9 great-grandchildren.
