Lorin R. Mills
1932 – 2022
Lorin Mills passed away on May 20, 2022 at the age of 89.
Lorin was born Dec. 9, 1932 in Harrison County, IA to the late Lorin Fay Mills and Lucille Sewing Mills on the family farm.
Lorin is survived by his wife of 65 years Mary (Blazek) Mills; daughters Laura Seaver (Tim) and Carol Adam (Larry); sons David Mills (Pennie) and Dr. Mark Mills (Louise); brother Dwight Mills (Marian); four grandchildren; Joseph Adam (Ellen), Jacob Mills (Katie), John Adam (Katie), Maria Mills. Great-granddaughter Lily Mills. And loving nieces and nephews.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army 1953-1955 and as Cpl. in the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal (stationed in Germany). He married Mary Blazek March 2, 1957 in Omaha. He was employed at Fruehauf (LBT, Inc.) as a welder for 41 years and retired in 1996.
Lorin always enjoyed singing and was a member of the choir at Pearl Memorial United Methodist Church in Omaha for many years. He enjoyed going fishing with family and friends. He seemed to always have his camera with him to take memorable photographs of family or the beautiful scenery of the many camping trips he took his family on. He loved playing horseshoes and won the Nebraska State Championship five times and the Cornhusker State Games several times. In 2000 he was inducted into the National Horseshoe Pitchers Assoc. Hall of Fame.
Visitation will be Fri., May 27 6-8pm at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N. 108th St. Omaha. Funeral service will be Sat., May 28 9:00am at Olive Crest United Methodist Church 7180 N. 60th St. Omaha. Burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Woodbine, IA with Military Honors.
