Kimberly Sue Wilkinson, 55, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, August 16, 2021, with her husband, daughter, and son-in-law by her side.

Kim was born on June 27, 1966, to Gary and Diane (Lindee) Pope in Omaha, NE. She was the oldest of three children.

After graduating from Westside High School in 1984, she married Tim Wilkinson, her husband of 35 years. As a military couple, the Air Force took the family to Germany, Colorado, Minnesota, Alabama, and finally back to Omaha.  Kim demonstrated great strength, finding herself parenting alone during Tim’s unaccompanied tours in Greece and multiple tours in the desert. Kim’s love of travel, curiosity about other cultures, organizational skills, and pragmatic nature made her well suited to military life. She always had a great capacity to roll with whatever difficulties or challenges life threw at her with humor, grace and style. While raising a family, she also found time for her education and worked in various career fields including cosmetology, banking, veterinary medicine, and most recently as a mental health counselor. She held a Master’s degree in Counseling and was just beginning a new career with Capstone Behavioral Health.

Kim will always be remembered by her friends and family for her strong Christian faith and her servant’s heart. Kim lived to care for others! Her life verse from scripture came from Philippians 2:3 –

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”

A beloved wife and mother, she is survived by her husband Tim, son Nicholas, daughter Lorrin, son-in-law Garrett, and grandchildren Keegan and Sabine. Besides her family, she is survived by step-mother Polly, sister Kelly, brother Jeff, nieces, aunts, uncles, and many friends. She also had great love for her “three blondes,” that is her three yellow Labrador retrievers who meant the world to her.

Kim passed away Monday, August 16, after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

The family wishes to express appreciation to Nebraska Medicine – Buffett Cancer Center, the AseraCare Hospice organization, Capstone Behavioral Health, and American National Bank for their extraordinary care and support for Kim and making her transition to heaven as peaceful as possible.
