Keith Lynn Fidler
Keith Fidler, Elkhorn, 76, died Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha of kidney failure. He was the oldest son of C.V. “Babe” & Helen (Cappel) Fidler, born August 27th, 1944 in McCook, NE. Keith spent his childhood days in Hayes Center and Grant, Nebraska. He graduated from Grant PCHS and attended Kearney Teachers College, McCook Junior College, and Denver Barber College. He served in the U.S. Army in the Dept. of Communications in Korea during the Vietnam War.
Keith married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Flynn, November 28, 1965 in Grant, NE. Together, they managed and truly enjoyed retail businesses in Benkelman, Ogallala and Sidney, NE. Keith’s then worked for 10 years at Von Maur in Omaha where he witnessed the tragic mass killings of eight coworkers 13 years to the day of his passing. Keith had a great sense of humor and keen interest in everyone he met. His passion for boys and girls basketball sports spurred on by daughter, Tiffany, was evident in the 16 summer basketball camps he and Virginia held in multiple southwest Nebraska towns such as Benkelman, Grant and Imperial.
Keith was a beloved son, brother, husband, Dad, Papa, brother-in-law, uncle, and great friend. His special interests were golf, fishing, dogs, all sports, especially youth basketball, woodworking and attending his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his parents; C.V. “Babe” and Helen Fidler, infant brother; Randy in 1951 and many aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Virginia, daughter; Tiffany (Troy) Appuhn, five grandchildren, brothers; Mike and Chris Fidler, five nieces and one nephew, cousins and many friends.
