Jeffrey “Jeff” Scott Lane was born September 1, 1964, in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and June Lane. The youngest of 5 kids, Jeff was deemed the favorite child by his sister Nancy because he always got the ice cream and was the reason their mom paid to install air conditioning.  He remembered carefree summers, never remembered what he ate for lunch, and only came in the house when the streetlight came on.

Jeff grew up in Des Moines where he met his wife of 32 years Michelle by “stalking her” in the shoe store where she worked. They had two amazing daughters, Emily and Katie, and moved to Norwalk. Jeff worked for Bell and Howell for 36 years. His work relocated them to Gretna, NE where they lived until they moved to Unincorporated Sarpy County in 2015.

A loving Papa to his grandkids, he spoiled them rotten. He loved building racetracks with Elias, hugging and reading with Ophelia, watching the movie Cars and car races with Lane, and snuggling with June.

When he wasn’t helping everyone he cared about with random projects, Jeff would spend his time camping with Michelle and the dogs, working on his Chevelle, making random improvements on the lawn, napping during NASCAR races, and pushing all of Michelle’s buttons.

Jeff is survived by his wife Michelle; children, Emily (Lucas) Henry, and Katie (David) Nelson; grandchildren, Elias and Ophelia Nelson, Lane and June Henry; two brothers, Mike (Dianne) Lane and Mark (Gerrilyn) Lane; two sisters, Chris (Rolly) Ford and Nancy (Dan) Greenley; mother-in-law Judy Sanderson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and June Lane.

Jeff was a giver. In life, he gave his time, energy, effort, and love to anyone who needed it. In death, he was able to help others to live by his gift of being an organ donor.  Through the people he helped, he will live on.

He was truly the best brother, husband, father, and papa.

We love you.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name.
