Gary Thomas Worster
WORSTER, Gary Thomas 1951-2021. His life was well lived and he was well loved! The Lord called him home in a peaceful manner at the UMMC Hospital, with his wife by his side on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, in his 69th year.
Gary left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed by his wife, family and friends.
Gary was born and raised to Reuben and Lillian Worster on August 8, 1951. Gary attended Lincoln Public Schools, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. Gary was very athletic and played football, baseball and basketball during his high school years. In 1969, Gary was the quarterback for the Lincoln High School team that was all city and all state champions, and that team was inducted in the Lincoln High School Hall of Fame. The same year that Gary graduated, he had the opportunity to play in the Nebraska Shrine Bowl.
Gary had many professional trades in his life although the one that he enjoyed the most was being a fire fighter. Gary joined the Lincoln Fire Department in January 1974. He had to retire in his 50s as he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Gary enjoyed his job and took it seriously. After retirement, Gary moved to Omaha and joined the Greater Beth-el Temple Church where the current bishop is Calvin Gould. Gary loved to sing in the choir and sang praises to the Lord. He had a long-standing relationship with God and was very blessed with his faith.
Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing when he wasn’t working.
Gary met his wife, Juanita, in 2009 and has been married since January 16, 2011, living in Omaha. Gary and Juanita have been blessed to enjoy each other for 10 years before Gary passed on to be with the Lord. Gary was honored to be a son, husband, father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by mother: Lillian Worster; niece: Michele Carpenter; and nephew: Harold Carpenter Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Juanita, son: Scott David Worster; dad: Reuben Worster; brothers: Reuben Paul Worster, David John Worster, and Ronald Dean Worster; sisters: Nancy Kay Carpenter and Cindy Worster; sister-in-law: Kathy Loos Worster; former spouse: Deanna Fuehrer; and best friend: Eugene Cunningham. The family would like to thank all of the health care professionals that took great care of Gary throughout his life.
Gary will be forever remembered for his way of making people laugh and smile along with his caring heart. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in Heaven with loved ones watching over us.
