Ernest A. Olsan
4/28/1940 – 3/16/2021
Ernest Olsan of rural Gretna passed away March 16, 2021. He was proceeded in death by his wife Audrey (Trauernicht); parents Albin and Bessie (Lunak) Olsan; sister Helen Wagner, infant brother George; nephews Kevin and Chad Wagner.
He is survived by sisters Lilly (Bob Woodward) Circo of Carter Lake, IA and Albina Lawrence of Chandler, AZ; children David Olsan of Beatrice, Stacey (Dustin) Fletcher of Springfield and Amy (Joel) Cook of Ashland; one grandson Tucker Cook; nieces and nephews.
Ernest attended rural District 11 and graduated from Gretna High School in 1957, was drafted and served two years at Fort Riley, KS. He was a lifelong farmer and scrap iron dealer. He will be remembered for his puffy yellow Minneapolis Moline jacket, his love of “junk”, the gift of gab, his obsession with hard work, the ability to exceeded 9 lives and most importantly as Papa Ernie to his grandson Tucker.
Visitation Thursday, March 25, 5:00-7:00pm at Roeder Mortuary-Gretna. Funeral Service Friday, March 26 at 10am at Gretna Resurrection Lutheran Church 153 S. McKenna Ave. Gretna, NE. Interment Fairview Cemetery Papillion, NE. Memorials to the Gretna American Legion or Gretna Volunteer Fire Department.
