Donald James Jeffrey, Sr.

Donald James Jeffrey, Sr.,

age 84 was born in Bayard, Iowa on December 8, 1936 and entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Ralph Jeffrey, as well as sister Janelle Joy Geihs and brother-in-law Fred Geihs. Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carole Jean and three sons: Donald James Jr. wife Susan, son Caleb; Thomas Michael and son Sabin, daughter Nichole Jeffrey, significant other Max Marcell and children Adeena Marie Marcell and Maddox Maxwell Marcell, son Terence Allen, wife Kristi and step son Michael Brummer. As well as many cousins, nieces and nephews

Don graduated from North High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard in the 1960’s. He graduated from Omaha University with a major in history.  He was a member of Sigma Thi Epsilon and the Shriners later in life. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Company as a marketing representative for 36 years during which time he made many lifelong friendships with coworkers and customers. Upon retirement from Conoco/Phillips he worked for Sapp Brothers Petroleum. Don loved the oil industry and his successes were largely do to the fact that he so loved speaking with others and helping them to succeed with their business endeavors.

He was a dedicated father and loving family man devoted to his three sons and their endeavors over the years in so many sports and activities. There were the many fishing trips to Grandpa Lind’s cabin in Minnesota. Deer hunting, pheasant hunting and turkey hunting were popular with him as well. Don even made a trip to Africa on safari. He coached and supported the boys in little league and various sports.  Later in life he enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Don was a caring husband always supporting Carole’s teaching and coaching roles. He was a current member of Presbyterian Church of the Master and enjoyed his times spent Sunday up at the Nelson’s before Carol would escort him to Sunday services. Often times, arriving and letting himself in far earlier than the scheduled time for Sunday service! He was a man of strong faith and relished in supporting others with their own faith and spiritual journey throughout their lives.

He loved to win in every facet of life and took great pride in working diligently to help others achieve success in whatever the task at hand may be and always had a cold or hot drink and warm meal for everyone that he would meet and no one was ever a stranger in his presence. He stood tall and fought proud against Alzheimer’s the past five years even though the road was never straight and filled with many bumps along his final journey. He made a tough stand against it and fought hard against the Covid – 19 all the way to the end. Ironically, he held on until the early morning hours of June 20th, the very birthdate of two of his sons to take his final trip across the bridge and join our LORD in Heaven!
