Dennis Eugene Markt, 62, of Omaha, Nebraska died Saturday, May 21, 2022, at his home.

Dennis was born February 4^th, 1960, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Gerald E. Fimple and Evelyn Maurine Oppenlander. Dennis was the beloved husband of Pam Markt and proud father of Jonathan (and Lacey) Markt and Jennifer (and Matt) Hames. He was the adoring grandfather of Reese, Asher, and Felicity Markt and Hudson and baby boy Hames. He will be remembered for his selflessness as a son, brother, uncle, colleague, and friend.

Dennis was passionate about family, his work in computer programming, country music, his favorite sports teams, and Dr. Pepper. He was a big personality who was always telling a story. He loved to belt out his favorite lines from comedies like The Great Outdoors and from the latest country hit. Dennis always made time for his family. He did not long for trips to faraway places, but the comforts of the family home and our dinner table were precious to him. He and Pam often planned trips to see family in St. Joseph and to meet up with parents and his six siblings. He was a tremendous dad, and he had the dad jokes to prove it. All humor aside, he provided fatherly advice to many and shared great wisdom.

Dennis was a problem solver and a tireless worker. He spent an illustrious career as a computer programmer at Tandem, Compaq, HP, and Esgyn before retiring at 60 years old. He spent his remaining time as a full-time grandpa – spoiling his grandchildren, much to their parents exasperation. He rediscovered his art for the simpler things – like reading, Tetris, and a good nap. He lived a life highlighted by special events – seeing his children and many nieces and nephews graduate to adulthood, celebrating many a joyous wedding, and welcoming four grandchildren while eagerly anticipating more.

Dennis has gone too soon – but left a life worth admiring. He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Fimple and second father Joe Markt. He is survived by his wife Pam Markt, his mother and stepfather Maurine and Stanley Vogel, and his siblings and their spouses: Ted (and Sara) Markt, Allan (and Gay) Markt, Gaytha (and Mark) Lindensmith, Debbie (and Dick) Severe, Denise (and Greg) Armfield, and Timothy (and Kelly) Vogel.
