Gretna – Dave was born to Chuck and Marge Gilmore in Omaha, NE.  He was one of six children.  He grew up in East Omaha and graduated from North High School in 1970.  After graduation he went to work in the family business, Great Plains Equipment.  The skills he learned in the business would help him build his reputation in the propane and fuel industries.  Eventually he started his own company, Magnum Products, in 1996.

Dave was introduced to his future wife Pat on February 13, 1987.  Three short months later they were engaged. They were married one year to the date of their introduction, February 13, 1988.  During that year he attended RCIA classes to become Catholic.  That was a decision that would shape the rest of his life.  Dave and Pat turned to their faith for guidance on how best to blend their families. They set a great example for Jeremy, Kim, Mark and Jessica of honoring previous family traditions and creating new ones.  Always wanting to have gatherings at their property; Dave loved bringing people together.

Dave and Pat took many wonderful adventures creating lasting memories.  They also consistently did the little things that are so important in a marriage.  One of those things was going to movies every Friday night when Dave was in town.  Often their dear friends, Mike and MaryAnn McGuire, would join them.

Dave had many hobbies throughout his life.  He enjoyed playing softball, wallyball, golf, snow skiing, biking and camping.  One of the constants throughout his life was his love of hunting.  If you have been to Dave and Pat’s home, you know what an accomplished hunter Dave was.  He hunted big game, upland birds, waterfowl and even feral hogs.

Anyone who knew Dave could tell you the things he loved most in life.  Besides his adoring wife Pat, he most loved being a grandpa to his eight grandkids; Anna, Sara, Emma, Oliva, Adrian, Sophia, Sheldon and Drew.

Dave was always the consummate gentleman, respectful of all those he interacted with and loved his family more than anything.  He will be sorely missed and cherished by all who knew him.
