Mary Ann Swaney

Mary Ann Swaney was born on December 13, 1951 in Omaha, NE to Francis and Rose (Schab) Galas.

She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1970 and she began her professional career in Omaha, NE with Mutual of Omaha before joining MUD in 1979, where she retired after 35 years of service and later married in 1982 to former spouse the late Gregg Swaney for 20 years.

Mary Ann was devoted to her faith, loved spending time with her family and friends, always cheered on the Creighton Basketball team and was a Husker fan for life. Her fun-loving spirit will truly be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Francis and Rose Galas and brothers; Ray and Bob Galas.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; Christina and Tim Liermann, grandchildren; Emma, Owen and Aden, brothers; Rich (Veronica), George (Kathy) Galas, sister; Rita (Dave) Treadway, sister-in-law; Patty Galas, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation; 6-8 PM with Rosary at 7 PM Thursday, September 2, 2021 Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N. 108th St.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 3, 2021 St. Elizabeth Ann Catholic Church, 5419 N. 114th St.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery, 7710 W. Center Rd.

Michael P. Parks

Age 83 –  July 28, 1937 – July 22, 2021

Mike crossed that river July 22, 2021—born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, in the Holy Cross Parish where he attended school and graduated.

Mike was an artist, an athlete and an entrepreneur.  He liked to play his sports, draw and design, have fun, discuss philosophy and politics, and he loved sales.  He ran the J. J. Parks Asphalt Company for decades along with many other businesses.  Mike, a man of complicated faith, was very involved in the heady days of the late sixties/early seventies with the Holy Family Parish and was instrumental in working with Father Jack McCaslin and Father Ken Vavrina in the civil rights movement, St. Francis House, and the American Indian movement.

Later in life, for the last 35 years, Mike resided at Willow Point Lake along the Platte River near Ashland, a place he loved dearly, bringing much of his energy to the landscape architecture around there.  Mike’s humor and argument will be missed by many friends and family.

Mike is survived by his wife, sister, three children and eight grandchildren.  A private ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 11th at Willow Point.

Dr. John A. Johnson

9/23/1943 – 8/27/2021

Age 77 – John was born on September 23, 1943 in Lincoln, NE. He graduated from Ashland High School.  Then he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he earned his bachelors degree and doctorate. John spent over 50 years in the IT industry.  He loved spending time with family and especially his dogs.  John passed away at his home surrounded by family August 27, 2021.  John is preceded in death by his parents, John A., Sr. and Vernice M. Johnson.  He is survived by his companion, Kathleen Stage; children, Tina Gunn (Corey), Stacy Winther, Nicole Alawimari (Amjad), Lindsay Mainor (Josh), Cody Hermandson (Tianna); grandchildren, John Gunn, Sofie Gunn,  Kyle Winther, Autumn Givehand, Alex Mainor, Gabby Winther, Avry Hermandson,  Alijah Hermandson, Gemma Mainor, Apollo Hermandson; sisters, Carolyn Bednar (Lad),  Arlene Jones; dogs, Bailey & Charlie and a host of other loving family and friends.

Age 87 – Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Hazel Miller and five siblings. He is survived by his wife of 69 wonderful years, Una; sons, Richard T. Jr. (Donna), Randy (Cindy), Ron, Russ (Kate); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Beverly Wainwright (Spence) and a host of other loving family and friends.

Darrell E. Mohr

Darrell E. Mohr, age 74 of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away at Josie Harper Hospice House on August 24.
Darrell was born in Atlantic, Iowa, to Ernest W. Mohr and Leona (Krems) Mohr. Darrell graduated from the Avoca school district in Avoca, Iowa. He loved his school and participated in sports and clubs. His classmates were very special to him.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Chris, and their three children, along with their spouses, and most-loved grandchildren: Darren, Liz, and Dax; Amber, Jeremy, Ernie, Lenora, and Walden; and Laura, Shaun, Adeline, and Lochlin. He has nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him.
His background in electronics led to a career at IBM, Eastman Kodak, and Danka. He owned a PIP Printing store for some years. His retirement work was done for Fernando’s Cantina. He had a respect for all, and in his last days, he reiterated his love for his family multiple times and said that he loved everyone.

Patsy Ann Horton

January 19, 1940 – August 17, 2021

Patsy Ann (McHam) Horton, died peacefully in her sleep on August 17, 2021, her 64th wedding anniversary, in Omaha, Nebraska. Patsy loved the Lord, her family, her friends, and absolutely adored her grandchildren with whom she spent immeasurable quality time throughout the years.

Patsy was the first of 6 children born to L.C. McHam and Mabel Inez (Clarkson) McHam. During her childhood, she lived in California and Arizona before returning with her family to her home state of Texas.  She is survived by her sisters and brothers; Jan (Jimmy) Chapman, Frank (Catherine) McHam, Ginger (Jimmy) Moore, Linda Whitten and Michael (Vicki) McHam and several nieces and nephews.

On August 17, 1957, Patsy was united in marriage with Travis Horton. To this 64 year marriage were born four children; Kathy (Michael) Svoboda of Omaha, NE, Debra (Roger) Lowry of Northglenn, CO, Sheri (Lynn) Shearer of Sunrise Beach, MO and Travis (Melanie) Horton, Jr. of Montgomery, AL.  Patsy is survived by 8 grandchildren; Alissa (Snider) Hall, Kara Horton, Aaron Lang, Eric Lang, Joseph Svoboda, Lisa (Svoboda) Bertelsen, Joshua Horton and Daniel Svoboda and 6 great-grandchildren; Michael, Leila, Taia, Ryker, Elouise and Wendy.

Throughout her life, she tirelessly dedicated herself to the raising of her four children, the enjoyment of her grandchildren and to Christ by doing the Lord’s work at Sunny Slope Church of Christ.
