Nancy W. Swanson (Anderson)

Omaha – Nancy W Swanson, age 88, passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 24,2020.

Nancy Wynona Anderson was born on November 3, 1931, the youngest of 5 children to Elmer E and Agnes (Bang) Anderson in Omaha Ne. She married Clark F Swanson on September 20, 1953 at Augustana Lutheran Church.

She was a homemaker while her children were young and then worked for Skyline Manor. She retired from there after 25 years. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending school and sporting events and many other activities. Family was her heart and always came first. She always had a loving caring heart for others and treated everyone like family.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Clark, infant daughter Laura Lynn, brother Wesley Anderson and sister Elvera Torrison.

She is survived by her children, Scott Swanson, Bruce (Anthea) Swanson and Laura (Tim) DeJong. Grandchildren Brianna (Dan) McClure, Kevin Swanson, Brenden (Danielle) DeJong, Austin Swanson and Brett (Jordan) DeJong. Great Grandchildren Aubree McClure, Landon Swanson, Easton DeJong, Ava McClure and Theodore (Theo) McClure. Sisters Lanette Witt, and Bobetta Hailicka Gatewood, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Her most favorite titles were Mom, Grandma, GMA and great grandma GG

Peggy L. Shapland

January 18th, 1933 – February 8th, 2020 

Peggy passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 8th, 2020.  Preceded in death by her husband Robert Shapland.  Survived by children Sherri Ewing, Mark (Renae), David (Robin), Gregory (Trish), and Michael (Terri) Shapland; also by grandchildren Josh (Erica), Katina, Justin, Matt (Emily), Autumn (Craig), Sara, Taylor (Caycee), Amanda, Chelsea (Grant), Lucas, and Brandi. She was graced with five great-grandchildren.

Age 67

Linda Marlene Sylvan, of Omaha, passed away Feb. 9, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband, Anthony Thomas.

Linda is survived by her children; Shannon Sylvan (Melvin), Chelsea Thomas (Rick); two grandsons, Trystin and Tatum; nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Anthony “Tony” Samuel Grazziano

Anthony “Tony” Samuel Grazziano, Sr.  Age 71 of Omaha passed away February 13, 2020.

He was born May 31, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska to Samuel J. and Jennie Rose (Spitella) Grazzaino.

Tony took the first 911 call for the City of Omaha. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Tony is survived by his wife of 51 years Jan, children; Kristi and David Cornish, Anthony and Cristina Grazziano, Jr. and Lisa Palermo, grandchildren; Christopher, Kyle, Preston, Grace, Paxton and Cody, family and friends.  The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff of the Buffett Cancer Center for the kindness and great care that Tony received during his illness.

Mary Ann Barry

4/22/1933 – 2/12/2020

Mary Ann Barry, age 86 of Omaha, passed away February 12, 2020.  She was born April 22, 1933 to John V. and Juanita (Fiehler) Benham of rural Wellsville, Kansas.  After graduation from Wellsville High School, she attended Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas.  She received B.A. Degrees in Music and Education.  Mary Ann married Leonard S. Barry on June 2, 1957.  They moved to Omaha in 1964.  She was a homemaker while her children were young, then worked for nearly 20 years as a para-educator at Morton Junior High.

She was an active member of the Maplewood United Methodist Church for over fifty years, serving many roles including Sunday School teacher, youth choir director, adult choir director, United Methodist Women, choir member, and various church committees.  She also served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and assistant Camp Fire Girls leader for many years.  Her interests included traveling, reading, singing, playing piano, genealogy, sewing, crochet, and scrapbooking.  She loved collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia and baking cakes and cookies for friends and family.  She was diligent in daily prayer for friends, family, and those in need.  She sent cards to countless family members and friends for all occasions – especially illnesses, birthdays, and anniversaries.

When asked what role God has in her life, she replied, “God has always been my personal savior.  He has led me each day, walked with me, and held my hand. He gives me peace and faith in the good times and bad times.  God has a place for me in heaven.  I will be at rest. My life has been guided by the love of God, family, and friends…knowing God was with me always.”

She is preceeded in death by her husband, Leonard.  She is survived by her two children: Son- Shawn Barry of Omaha; Daughter and Son-in-Law – Laura and Daryl Steinman of rural Dunbar; Grandson – Loren Steinman of Urbana, Illinois; one brother – Alvin Benham of Lafayette, Colorado; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Visitation and viewing Sunday 1:00-3:00 PM at Roeder Funeral Home.

A family visitation (no viewing) is also scheduled for 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday evening at Marshall Funeral Home (1109 1st Corso – Nebraska City) with a prayer service at 6 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday (2-17-20) at Maplewood United Methodist Church, 3535 Maplewood Blvd, Omaha.
Graveside services will be Tuesday (2-18-20) at 1 PM at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Maplewood United Methodist Church or family’s choice.
