Carlos Stimson
On January 23, 2020, Carlos George Stimson, passed away at the age of 66. Carlos was born November 11, 1953 in Owatonna MN to Enzy G and Madeline (Hyde) Stimson. Carlos obtained his Turfgrass Management degree from the University of Minnesota and was initially employed as a golf course superintendent in Wadena, MN and Brookings, SD. He became the 1st Certified Golf Course Superintendent of SD. The family moved to Omaha in 1985, when he worked as a technical representative for the Scotts and Anderson companies. He and Jean traveled in Europe for his job and their leisure, thus, experiencing a variety of cultures. After his retirement, he developed his own lawn and tree consulting business. He volunteered his talent at St Stephen the Martyr by planting trees and fertilizing the grounds.
Carlos was a golf enthusiast, fisherman and pheasant hunter. He organized couple’s golf trips and fishing trips to Canada. He initiated the annual Grinolds family gathering, which of course, involved golf. He hunted in South Dakota with his Brittany Spaniel. Having the perfect Minnesota accent, he was known for his Ole & Lena jokes.
On November 9, 1974, he married his Owatonna high school sweetheart, Jean Marie Grinolds. They raised three children, Christopher, Jeffrey and Nathan.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeffrey S. Stimson. He is survived by his wife Jean, and his two children, Christopher (Sally) and Nathan (Sarah), his sisters, Joette (Larry) Louks and Rita (Jay) Lundin, many nephews and nieces and four grandchildren.
