November 16, 1945 – May 20, 2021
Brother Benjamin A. Franklin born November 16, 1945 in Aliquippa Pa. the son of the late Advanced Presiding Elder Alvertis Benjamin Franklin and Senior Mother Patricia (Cora) Lorraine Franklin. Ben departed this life May 20, 2021 at Immanuel Hospital.
Benjamin was born a member of the Supreme Council of the Hose of Jacob. He dedicated much time in his youth to pioneering in Bethlehem Township Ohio. He was known for contributing his time and energy to many projects that helped build the church. He could often be found repairing church fans. He was also a phenomenal painter and handyman; he used these skills to benefit the upkeep of the Omaha Mission.
In 1965 Benjamin joined the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War as a paratrooper with the 101st air born division. After the war he started and ran multiple businesses.
Benjamin moved to Omaha, Ne. in 2000, where he united in matrimony in 2005 to Elderess Alisa (Bibbs) Franklin and recently celebrated 16 years of marriage. In Omaha he was known for is love and service for the Lord. His favorite song was God Is Good to Me. One of his favorite scriptures to read upon request was Psalms the 73rd division. He also found much joy in giving the church literature as gifts to his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Benjamin was preceded in death by his brother, Mr. Leroy W. Smith and 2 sisters, Mrs. Vivian Gibson and Mrs. Etherine Tipper.
He is survived by his wife, Elderess Alisa Franklin and his siblings, Advanced Senior Mother, Olive P. James of Camp Dennison Ohio, Senior Mother, Lenora Davis of Aliquippa Pennsylvania, Elderess Esther Smith of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Elderess Priscilla Ballard of Omaha, Nebraska, Brother, Absalom Franklin of Omaha, Nebraska, Sister, Lorraine Andrews of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mr. Paul D. Franklin of San Mateo, California, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held at 9:00 am Thursday, May 27,2021 at Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Rd. Those who wish to remember Benjamin is a special way may send gifts in his memory to 6310 N. 63rd St. Omaha, Ne. 68104.
