Anthony “Tony” Robert Mapes was born on July 8, 1954 to Bryce and Margaret Mapes.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Bryce and Margaret Mapes. He is survived by his daughters: Angela Mapes and Shannon (Shawn) Currier; grandchildren: Austin Baudendistel, Logan Baudendistel, Chloe Baudendistel, and Layhla Currier; brothers: Bryce (Pat) Mapes, Donald Mapes, William Mapes, Walt Mapes, and Tim Mapes; and many nieces and nephews.

Tony graduated from Benson High School. Following High School, he worked as a lineman at U.S. West for the greater part of his career. He also worked as a courier for the American Red Cross and took great pride in helping others through his work.

Tony loved watching sports, fishing, and spending time outdoors with family and friends. He was a die-hard Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Nebraska Cornhuskers fan.

Laughter was always a staple to Tony. His sense of humor was blessed by all who knew him.
