Alice M. Johnson

3/31/1929 – 5/4/2020

Alice Johnson passed away peacefully on May 4, 2020.  Alice was born in Dayton, Iowa on March 31, 1929 to Ralph and Linnea Manguson.  She grew up in a family of 10 children where life centered around family, friends, church and school.  She played basketball and graduated from Dayton High School in 1947.  After graduation, Alice moved to Omaha to attend Commercial Extension School of Business and played on their basketball team.  Alice continued to play amateur league basketball after finishing school and worked for a kitchen distributor in Omaha. 

In 1953, Alice married Merlin Johnson and they had four children:  Carol, Tom, Pam and Linda.  After a year in Omaha, they lived in Council Bluffs until 1963 and returned to Omaha living in Maple Village for many years.  Alice was an active member of Maplewood United Methodist Church.  She was a dedicated homemaker and worked as a telemarketer after raising her family.  Alice especially loved travelling to visit family in Iowa, Texas, Florida, Colorado and Michigan.  She enjoyed special vacations to Alaska, Washington D.C., Myrtle Beach and Branson with family and friends.  Alice was a loving and caring woman who was dedicated to her family and friends. 

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Merlin Johnson, son Thomas, daughter Pamela, parents Ralph and Linnea Manguson, brothers Charles (Betty), Don, Dwain (Marion), Kenneth, Glen and Ray, sister Dorothy (Bud) Simons.  Alice is survived by daughters Carol (Lynn) Rice, Linda Johnson, grandchildren Siri (Ryan) Morken, John (Nicole) Rice, Erica (Vincent) Bosscher, great grandchildren, Maria, Moses, Louis and Georgia Bosscher, Evan and Jake Morken, sisters Marjorie Udall, Helen Martin, many nieces and nephews, family and friends.              

Visitation Thursday (5/7/20) 3:00 – 6:00 PM (Following CDC Guidelines) at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N 108th Street Omaha, NE. Private Graveside Service. Celebration of life service to be held later. Memorials to Maplewood United Methodist Church. The family would like to express our deep appreciation to the staff and residents of Azira Health Montclair and AsceraCare Hospice.
