Alfred “Fred” Pudenz
1/16/1941 – 2/18/2022
Alfred Alois Pudenz passed away on February 18th, 2022 at the age of 81.
Fred was born on January 16th, 1941, in Carroll, Iowa to the parents of Rose and Albert Pudenz. He was the youngest of 6 brothers and 4 sisters. In 1958 he graduated from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel High School in Iowa. He then went on to build a successful career in the tire industry, meeting friends wherever he went, including the customers he served. No one was a stranger in Fred’s world.
On October 27th, 1962, he married the love of his life, Teresa Heithoff at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton, Iowa. Together, they built a life based on love, laughter and above all faith. He loved her fiercely and always, always put her first. They were inseparable and truly enjoyed the simplicity of life together.
After marriage, they moved to Denison where they eventually built their dream home and raised five children. Fred was extremely active in the community and spent years coaching youth sports, attending his kid’s sporting events, serving on various community committees, including the City Council and creating memories with family and friends whom he always cherished. In 1992, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he had the great pleasure of being close to some of his kids and grandchildren.
His greatest legacy is, without a doubt, his 13 grandchildren who he enjoyed spending time with and watching them grow. More than anything, he simply loved to hear how their day was and what was going on in their lives. He was so very proud of their accomplishments and was always their biggest fan in every aspect of their lives.
He was honest, hard-working, loyal, kind-hearted, and just an amazing man who appreciated the simple things in life, including a great view from his deck, a good chuckle with his grandkids, working in his yard or garden, tailgating in Ames, watching the Creighton Blue Jays, Iowa State Cyclones and Kansas City Royals play, and sharing an ice-cold beer with those he loved. But above all things, Fred was strong in his Christian faith, attending church almost every day whether in person or virtually. The foundation of faith that Fred and Teresa built together over the years will continue to be alive in the lives of all those he touched.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Albert and Rose Pudenz; brothers, Art, Paul, Walt, Ralph; sisters, Alice Vonnahme, Marion Boes, Thelma Timmerman, Irma Knobbe; granddaughters, Katelyn and Kinsey Pudenz; his beloved brother in-laws, sister in-laws and many friends he met along the way.
Fred leaves his wife of nearly 60 years, Teresa Pudenz; his children, Lynn (Mary) of Waukee IA, Kurt (Mary) of Waukee IA, Steve (Vesta) of Papillion NE, and Jon (Patti) of Papillion NE, Jennifer Redmond (Chris) of Omaha NE; 13 Grandchildren who he loved very much, Brianne, Danielle, Cole, Brett, Aaron, Cael, Ashlyn, Connor, Anna, Courtney, Caden, Taylor and Jack; his brother Ken (Karen) of Columbia MO; In-laws; Donna of Edina MN, Mary Wessling (Ron) of Carroll IA, Laverne Heithoff (Cleo) of Grimes IA and Wayne Heithoff of Urbandale IA; many nieces, nephews and cherished friends who he will continue to inspire through the life he lived.
Visitation: Tuesday (2/22/2022) 5:00 – 6:30 PM with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM at the mortuary. Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM Wednesday (2/23/2022) with a viewing for family and friends from 9:30-11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Catholic Church, 114th & Fort Street Omaha, Nebraska. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Omaha. Memorials to St. Elizabeth Ann Catholic Church, 5419 N 114th Street, Omaha NE 68164.
