Born in 1952 to Helen and Donald Wetzel, little Sammy was welcomed by Brother Mark and soon after his sister Debby. Some of his fondest memories and best stories were of his days growing up in North Omaha. After graduating from Omaha North, Dad went to work in the fire protection industry where he spent the next 48 years eventually owning his own company Metro Alarms.

He enjoyed time at his parent’s cabins on the river, boating, fishing and hunting.  He loved softball and cold beers at Tranquility Lounge.  He developed a passion for cooking and always looked forward to preparing feasts just like Granny. Later in life, Dad loved to sing karaoke and never missed a “Monday Night Meeting.”

Dad was a simple man who knew what he liked. A tough guy on the outside, this State Wrestling Champ had a heart of gold. He was a wonderful father to his girls and a proud grandpa to Evan, Ryder, Violet, and Vivian.  May they always cherish their memories of Grandpa Sam.

He is survived by Daughters: Heather Mejia (Joe), Megan Simpson (Brandon); Grandchildren: Evan, Ryder, Violet, Vivian; Brother Mark (Judy); Debby.
